Dave,

Your Wednesday evening post (sounds like a magazine!) reminded immediately of something Ben Pierce said a few years ago.

He spoke of a flight training school which posted the following words on a sign,

“In combat, you do not rise to the level of your competition.
You fall to the level of your training.”

A great thought.

May God bless you both mightily.

Dear Friends of Dave and Irene,

I am writing to request your prayer for our Worship Pastor, Dieter Zander. Last Monday, February 4th Dieter suffered a massive stroke. He is only 46 and is the primary support for his wife, Val, and three sons, Kyle, Conrad and Chris. Kyle is a freshman in college, while Conrad and Chris are in high school. He is currently at Marin General Hospital in the ICU in critical condition. Needless to say this has been a terrible blow not only to his family but to our church, Bay Marin Community Church in San Rafael, California.

Besides being our worship pastor, Dieter, has played a major role in the emerging church movement and has a huge heart for reaching Gen Xers. At this time his prognosis is uncertain. Due to the tremendous out pouring of spiritual support for Irene that has come from this website, Dave encouraged me to post this entry and so here it is.

If you would like to know more about Dieter’s condition, please feel free to check out http://zanderupdate.wordpress.com. There you can find updates on his condition, options for helping the family and an opportunity to donate to a fund that has been established to assist the family.

Please be in prayer for him, his family and our church as we endeavor to minister to them in their hour of need. Finally if the spirit moves you, please donate to the fund. As a full time pastor, his family’s resources are limited and their needs will be great as they move forward into an uncertain future.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support for the Zander family.

Blessings,

Alex
