Update From Dave
1 p.m…
Irene’s fever broke early this morning. Her energy is very low, the nausea has calmed to 5 on a 1-10 scale, and she’s “laying low”. Rest and recovery are the defining words today.
Thanks for caring,
Dave

Thanks for checking in…!!!
Irene’s running a 101.1 temp this evening following dialysis treatment. She’s also got a headache and the nausea is ever present.
We’re hoping she’ll REBOUND tomorrow.

Update From Dave
9.15 p.m….
Thanks for checking in.
Irene had a much better day after bouncing back from a challenging yesterday/last evening.
She retuns to dialysis tomorrow for her usual Wednesday treatment protocol.
I can’t imagine having diallysis three hours plus a day, three days a week… M, W, F, now going on for almost 3 years…especially with such an inspiring attitude.
Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave
By way of background, I’ve always told Irene that on a scale of 1-10 that she’s a 10...in all areas of her life. The one area that I wish she WASN’T a 10 is on the nausea scale...which is where it is as I write this update following her dialysis treatment today (5.30 p.m.). She just shared that the nausea is RAGING at 10 on a scale of 1-10.
Please pray for her to get relief from this chronic issue...as we hope for a rebound and better tomorrow.
Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave
I have been telling Irene that she’s a “saint” lately…mostly because of her incredible attitude on this surreal journey of faith.
Wikipedia defines SAINT here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint
Irene had a good day yesterday. We drove to Santa Maria and had lunch with friends Michael, Rebecca and Isla Corwin. I put several of the photos yesterday on my Facebook page.
Today, Irene worked in the yard and in her Wisteria Garden. It was a FANTASTIC weather day, hovering in the low 70’s with high blue skies. Her nausea remained at bay.
Whether or not Irene actually achieves “sainthood” status; in my book she’s already arrived.
Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave
4.30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in.
Irene had another needle infiltration at dialysis today.
She’s in pain and icing the swollen region of her arm. She will return tomorrow morning @ 6.30 a.m. in order to finish being dialized since they were unable to remove enough toxins today.
Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave
8.15 p.m…
Thanks for checking in…
Irene dribbled today…in other words, not a full bounce, but a dribble back from the raging nausea of yesterday. On a range of 1-10 the nausea hovered around 5 all day. Tolerable, but certainly present…but not overwhelming.
I contacted Dr. Damon at UCSF last evening and today he prescribed a new medication which Irene will pickup from the pharmacy and try tomorrow.
Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave
8.45 p.m…
Thanks for checking in.
The last 3 days have been BRUTAL in terms of Irene’s battle against the RAGING nausea and fatigue factor. This evening, following dialysis, it’s also been an EMOTIONAL CHALLENGE to live above the circumstances.
Thanks for caring,
Dave
