Update From Dave

8 p.m.

The dialysis technicians “fished” the needles in her fistua region for over an hour today before giving up and asking Irene to return tomorrow morning @ 6.45 a.m.  Her arm is simply too swollen from the last needle infiltration.  You’ll also recall that this is the same arm that is carrying the broken wrist.  So, back in the morning…and then back again on Friday.  We just hope that tomorrow’s treatment procotol is successful.

Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave

BRUTAL.

That’s the best word to describe Irene’s day.

It took dialysis technicians more than 30 minutes to have the needles in the right position; pain, discomfort and, candidly, the anguish is difficult to express in words.  The nausea RAGES this afternoon at a 10+ on a one to 1-10 scale…as she tustles about, endeavoring to find a comfortable position to rest and recover.

Hoping for a better tomorrow…and thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave

Irene was unable to get dialysis treatment to day because of another needle infiltration early on in the process.  The photograph depicts her arm after she’s iced it all afternoon.  Her head is pounding from a massive headache and the nausea rages.

Needle Infiltration

Since she’s now gone without dialysis Saturday, Sunday, Monday, she’s going for treatment tomorrow morning at 6.45 a.m., then back again on Wednesday.

This isn’t the way she had planned her week.

Thanks for caring,

Dave

Update From Dave

7:10 p.m…

Thanks for checking in.

Irene’s NAUSEA is RAGING this evening at an 8-9 on a 1-10 scale.  She’s extremely FATIGUED following dialysis and is trying to find a comfortable position…obviously complicated by her broken wrist which she tries to elevate to minimize the throbbing during the healing process. Her head is pounding with a massive headache.

Hoping for a full recovery tomorrow.

Thanks for caring,
Dave

Update From Dave

7.30 p.m.

Thanks for checking in...!!!

Irene went to her orthopedic specialist today. He said that her wrist isn't where he had hoped it would be at this stage. He went on to say that her wrist should be at 80% and that it's no where near that number. (The break was June 29). Dialysis may be slowing down the healing process. She'll be pursuing hand therapy in the coming weeks to see if that will expidite the process. Although slow, at least Irene's wrist is healing and moving in the right direction!

We had a relaxing dinner this evening at Palapas, http://palapasrestaurant.com/, in Seascape with Tom and Bonnie Crawford of Pismo Beach.

Thanks for caring,
Dave

His Strength Is Perfect

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength
But sometimes I wonder what he can do for me
No great success to show
No glory of my own
yet in my weakness he is there to let me know

[CHORUS:]
His strength is perfect when our strength is gone
He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on
Raised in his power the weak becomes strong
His strength is perfect
His strength is perfect

We can only know the power that he holds
When we truly see how deep our weakness goes
His strength it must begin
When ours comes to an end
He hears our humble cry and proves again
