A Defining Moment on Irene’s Journey of Faith!

Kidneys

Today, we received official word from UCSF that Irene is now on the ACTIVE Kidney Transplant Donor List.

  • Irene’s pathology report indicates that there is NO AMYLOID in her colon.  The small polyp discovered at the time of the colonscopy is benign
  • Irene’s common genetic markers make her transplant eligibility to be consider a “perfect” match
  • We can officially move forward with prospective donor conversations and donor packets
  • She can move forward with either a cadaver or living donor
  • The kidney transplant could be conducted on short notice;  Irene is “on call” 24/7 which means that if UCSF calls she must be prepared to respond and travel immediately to UCSF.  We’re discussing contingency plans if I happen to be traveling when she gets the call
  • If, or WHEN she goes through the transplant process the likely hospitalization period is 5 days

Kidney

Kidney showing marked pallor of the cortex, contrasting to the darker areas of surviving medullary tissue indicating acute renal failure.

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32:4

Irene returned home from dialysis this evening completely wrung out and nauseated …. but smiling and very encouraged by this report from UCSF.
